Make-And-Take

Have fun with a hands-on, make-and-take project. This class allows teachers to construct materials to use in their classroom. Target audience is Teachers of Age 3 and up. Each attendee will receive a book for their child care center.

Keynote Speaker: "The Key to Handling Tantrums and Meltdowns: What Children Really Need From Us" - Diane Goyette, TECPDS #1420. Learn helpful strategies for keeping your cool and explore how to provide three things children really need from us during a meltdoan.

Breakout Sessions: Sessions will repeat. Each person will attend two sessions.

"Overcoming Communication Challenges" - Bonifacia Solis-Mora, M.ED. Learn to understand the need for an effective communication plan, especially in settings with differnt languages and cultures. Take home ready-to-implement strategies to use in the classroom.

"Design On a Dime" - Carol Thompson, TECPDS #17982 & Susan Robertson, TECPDS #17983. Create meaningful, skill-based DIY learning activities and manipulatives that are budget friendly. Life hacks meet child care classrooms!

"Art Make and Take" - Shele Laminack, Discount School Supply. Have fun with a hands-on project. Teachers will experience sample projects to use in their classroom.

"Don't Burn the Bacon" - Marilyn Kramer, TECPDS #3629. Learn how to foster STEM learning in the classroom by incorporating fun, easy and safe cooking activities!

Closing Session: "Music and Movement" - Theresa Anderson. Participants will learn how songs can be used to promote social and emotional development in young children.
